Ashridge Farmhouse - another unique and stunning "Hunting Lodge" property joins our Affiliate Program.

Please click any picture to see the full size version

Sleep in a Hunting Lodge built in 1575 for Queen Elizabeth I from £55.00 per head!

The fantastic front door spectacle that is Ashridge Farmhouse! Here you can see the available bedrooms and bathrooms on both the first and second floors. Your flexible and congenial hosts Dave & Ann Williams extend to you a very warm welcome indeed to the fabulous, quirky and inviting Ashridge Farmhouse. With it's intriguing bread & spice ovens, massive fireplaces and mysterious winding corridors & stairways you will feel, quite simply, in awe!

This beautiful and significant Grade II listed building dates back to the 16th century, when it was originally part of the Windsor Great Forest Estate. Actually built in 1575 as a hunting lodge for Queen Elizabeth I it is a very substantial dwelling on three floors.

Whilst still retaining many charming and characteristic features it is a very special house and a much loved home where guests can experience a sense of history alongside many modern day comforts.

Ashridge Farmhouse was our first partner in our "Affiliate Program" and Dave's aim is to provide a seamless compliment to the St. Swithins Cottage offer. Being superbly located just over 2 miles away he, firmly, believes that with his huge open fireplaces he can help make your overall Hen Party a roaring success!

The beautiful oak panelled sitting room for you all to enjoy and just as in St. Swithins Cottage the antlers have pride of place. Here you can see another fine example of finding that complementary link between St. Swithins and Ashridge viz. the hunting lodge connection! Congregrating in the magnificent oak panelled sitting room you get a feeling of the majesty of the place by the massive open fireplace feature with it's adjoining spice cupboard. Here, as in all the rooms, you can check your facebook account or emails via the wireless broadband whilst waiting for your girlfriends before returning to St. Swithins Cottage or The Green Man for the next phase of your Hen Party.

The lovely conservatory - an ideal option for breakfast if not desiring to meet up at The Green Man?. Adjacent to this regal sitting room is the very light and airy conservatory where guests can enjoy their breakfast overlooking the gardens unless, of course, you are taking up the offer of the cracking full English breakfast at only £5.00 per head at The Green Man.

Partying in Wokingham!:

With Ashridge Farmhouse being, literally, a ten minute walk from the centre of Wokingham you have the added advantage of being close to some really good yet fairly sophisticated nightlife.

The bar opposite the town hall called The Red Lion serves delicious "Pad Thai" cuisine and later in the evening opens up a dance floor for some really good fun boogieing on down. Even old Hen Hefner has been known to wiggle his toe there!

Additionally to start the evening a trip to one or two of Wokingham's watering holes is definitely recommended. Our personal favourites are The Redan or The Raglan either or both of which should get all your spirits flowing nicely.

Pricing:

Pricing really couldn't be simpler. If you are part of a large group e.g. "Hen Party" then you simply follow the same Party Pricing model as at St. Swithins Cottage.

Bedrooms & Bathrooms:

Ashridge Farmhouse has a total of 7 double beds and 1 single bed available. So when aligned with St. Swithins Cottage that allows for an overall capacity of more than 30! Each bedroom and sitting room having colour televisions and access to wireless broadband - a far cry from what Queen Elizabeth I would have expected!

Please click on the above architectural plan of Ashridge Farmhouse to try and understand the layout of this beautiful old residence. The bedrooms available to guests are numbered from 1 to 6 on it and now we will detail the facilities in each bedroom.

Bedroom 1 (en-suite):
Simply massive so loads of space to do make-up etc! A truly massive bedroom - no need to worry about space to get ready here! This is a very large elegantly furnished room with two king-sized beds. Although these wonderful beds are "king" sized what girl will not feel like a Queen in this room and sleep relaxed and cosy!

The fabulous expansive en-suite bathroom comprising a large walk-in shower, roll top bath, bidet, w.c. and hand basin overlooks the stables to the rear.

Bedroom 2 (en-suite):
Have you ever seen a more beautiful bath? A scintillatingly gorgeous bedroom! Wow what a room - simply divine! A huge super-king sized bed holds court in the centre but wow what a feast for your eyes. There is bound to be a squabble for who has the opportunity of sleeping in this gem. Simply but elegantly furnished with views out to both the front and rear of the property you probably won't want to leave your room!

The absolutely gorgeous en-suite bathroom comprising the most beautiful roll top bath, bidet, w.c. and hand basin is quite simply to die for! will set your hearts rocking as it has the most divine bath you can imagine

Bedroom 3:
Oodles of space just as in bedroom 1! This is almost exactly the same size and similarly furnished to bedroom 1 again with two king-sized beds. As with Bedroom 1 it overlooks the front of the property.

This, along with bedroom 1, was Queen Elizabeth I's private sleeping quarters. Interestingly, and if you look again at the house layout plan above, you may notice the ability of having both bedrooms 1 & 3 privately linked. This is probably how Queen Elizabeth I had it setup with her chambermaids.

Shared Bathroom:
A truly enormous luxury bathroom across the corridor from both bedrooms 3 and 4 comprising a large walk-in shower, bidet, w.c. and hand basin. This also has huge mirrors for that all important "make-up" task.

Bedroom 4:
On the same floor and just across the landing from bedrooms 1 & 3 is this the cosiest double you can imagine.

It has lovely views overlooking the expansive rear garden and is right above the conservatory / breakfast room immediately below.

Bedroom 5:
What another gem of a room! Sleeping in this gorgeous "sleigh" like bed you had better be practicing your French as this beautiful antique bed came from a magnificent French Chateau.

Bedroom 6:
This is the only single room in the property and it is a well proportioned room overlooking the courtyard.

Taxis:

Whilst we do have secure private parking available and are within walking distance of Wokingham Town Centre our preferred transportation service is via Loddon Cars and a pertinent, indicative, selection of fares from Ashridge Farmhouse but linked to St. Swithins Cottage follow.

Please note these prices are bi-directional (with the exception of London Heathrow where the first price is pick-up from Heathrow) and need to be confirmed by you by contacting Loddon Cars direct on +44 (0)1189 321321 where you may even get a better price on the day!
