Even the meandering private drive to this magnificent residence will leave you breathless as it begins to whet your appetite for the treat that awaits you!

The rear of the property from 'The Book of Hurst' by Henry Farrar. Your enthusiastic and exuberant American hostess Suzy will welcome you with open arms to her awe inspiring & virtual regal home "The Manor of Hurst"!

A view from just beyond the expansive drive. To the left we have a very old view of the rear and to the right we have a recent view of the front.

The Manor of Hurst was built by a Richard Ward, sub-treasurer to King Henry VIII, Edward VI, Mary & Elizabeth. He was a most unusual character living to the ripe old age of 97 and thereby lived during 5 different reigns! He wrote of himself:

Late supping I forswear
Wine and ill living I forswear
My neck and feet I keep from cold
No marvel then if I be old.
I am a willow not an oak
I chide, but never hurt with stroke.

At the time of the "Hearth" taxation system back in the 16th century the property was assessed as having a total of 24 hearths. So it was a truly magnificent edifice of its era.

History abounds within this glorious property but you will have to coax it out of the lovely Suzy. However just as a little snippet its stables were used by Royalist troops during the Civil War!
Looking out to the pond and beyond.
Main patio area. Nestled in its own extensive acreage but a stone's throw from St. Swithins Cottage this is a home fit for a Princess!

To the left you can begin to imagine the scale of this place - what a perfect patio to host your special event on. Standing here all you see in front of you is acres and acres of gorgeous sumptuous countryside and all owned by the Manor! It is quite simply majestic.

The image to the right looks out beyond the The patio continues off to the left. wooden obelisk to a perfect picturesque pond. As you can see it is bordered by a lovely wall through which lies a treasure - none other than the heated pool.

Our next picture on the left has you standing at the point where the wooden obelisk image was taken but now you are looking back to where the first patio image was shot and from this view you can see how the patio is flanked by stunning architecture and a beauty of nature - wisteria. The stunning architectural entrance to the swimming pool.

However I expect you now want to see what's behind that wall. Well to get to the other side you have go through yet another gem of historical architecture. Just look at how beautiful this door is and it is then framed itself again by more beauty from nature - a picture within a picture!
The large heated swimming pool - or at least a bit of it!.
Back out onto the patio. I forgot to mention that Suzy is both a passionate and very gifted gardener but you will realise that very quickly as you stroll around this little piece of heaven.

You are only going to get a glimpse of the large heated swimming pool as an enticement to book up and experience it for real! So let's exit back onto the patio via the door to the left.

More examples of stunning architecture. One of the many different garden areas - Suzy is also a fantastic flower arranger. There is so much here you will not want to leave.

Imagine all the opportunities, lawn picnic with champagne or perhaps a barbecue? Whatever you chose the photo opportunities are unrivalled.

But its not all about glamour at The Manor of Hurst as Suzy is aptly and definitely our very own version of Felicity Kendal out of "To The Manor Born". Not only does she have her own kitchen garden but she keeps chickens, ducks, geese, pot bellied pigs and of course Horses to boot!

It is truly a privilege & pleasure and a joy to have Suzy on board as a partner in our "Affiliate Program" and as we are both located in the same village, less than a mile apart, we complement each other perfectly. Dining fit for a Queen!

Now let's take you inside and tempt you further....

How about a fully catered event just for you and your girlfriends in this unbelievably sumptuous dining room?

As well as this beautiful dining room you also have access to a large kitchen complete with the quintessential Aga and a huge drawing room. However don't feel as though you have to stay in and as you are in the same village as St. Swithins Cottage you can make use of The Green Man and take up their offer of a cracking full English breakfast at only £5.00 per head and/or your evening dinner.

Pricing:

Pricing really couldn't be simpler. If you are part of a large group e.g. "Hen Party" then you simply follow the same Party Pricing model as at St. Swithins Cottage. The only addition is that dependent on the type of group but usually for "Hen Party" groups The Manor of Hurst comes with a pre-requisite of the House Butler being there at night for which there is an additional charge of £120 per night.
