Get to St. Swithins Cottage and simply relax!
Either your host has prearranged dinner for you or you have booked direct via the link here to The Green Man. Utilising that exceptional business idiom “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” why go anywhere else than to the top of the drive for dinner? Here you'll find our “Quintessential” The Green Man where a reputation for good hearty food at fair prices has built the Licensee, Simon Guile, an enviable reputation. Here you can relax in front of ancient fireplaces, which have embellished many a smile on the faces of weary business men or women, and relish the natural hubbub of local chitter chatter which makes Public Houses like this the envy of the World! Oh and remember, being at the end of the drive you can “Just say No” to drink driving and enjoy what an ancient Brakspear watering hole has to offer.
Dawn Woodcock manages front of house, aided by our now almost local Polish friends, Tom & Barbara. Dawn adds an efficient, professional touch to our friendly, welcoming team. Call her at The Castle for dining reservations - and don't forget our private rooms for your party or business meeting – Dawn will show you round if you are yet to visit. Chef Jerome Leopold has been in Britain for eight years and combines an understanding of local and seasonal ingredients with a heap of Gallic charm.
Jerome's menu is all about simplicity and value, and will regularly change to reflect what's in season – daily specials will always be a feature.
Breakfast with a simplistic continental breakfast in the “Murray of Atholl” dining room and as you gaze upon William Wallace’s huge two handed sword hung above the stove in the snug contemplate all the battles of yester year whilst strategising for the battles laying ahead during your business day. (Fully inclusive in the price). Alternatively and again utilising that idiom “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” journey just a mile or so up the road to the Farm Café where you can enjoy a gem of a breakfast from under £5 per head. With breakfast available from 07:30 it is the best of the best west of London and please don’t underestimate the size of the “Kids Breakfast”!
