A beautiful Country Cottage in Hurst, Berkshire offering five sumptuous Executive double rooms to let.
This truly characterful period property dating, in some parts, to approaching 440 years old and mentioned in the Hurst District Plan as being of architectural and historic interest, is a pure haven of tranquillity – offering the most superb range of facilities along with the “Quintessential” village pub, at the end of a long private drive, to relax in after a long hard day! The property, themed on a Scottish “Hunting Lodge”, is a sumptuous yet quirky retreat which will welcome the sophisticated weary traveller or exhausted business professional with open arms. Throughout the property ancient warrior artefacts abound none less so than in the imposing stairwell where you can just imagine taking on the Scots headed by William Wallace at Bannockburn. And yes I do know what the problem with Scotland is – its full of Scots! However there are quite a few down here now also (you have to say that last line with a Scottish accent). With ample parking & living accommodation and rooms from £49.50 per night it is THE ideal “Home from Home” for the busy professional or sophisticated traveller. Aims & Objectives Our endeavour is to offer a totally different and unique experience compared to that of the modern day drab “Hotel”. Our model is more akin to the French “Gîtes” concept allowing you to feel at home as opposed to the impersonal nature of just your room in a bland hotel. Therefore you can enjoy and have the freedom of your very own Scottish “Hunting Lodge”. Additionally a true personal service is at the top of our agenda – nothing is too difficult! So for example everything from pick-up / drop-off from / to Heathrow for individuals or small Executive groups is readily available. Rooms St. Swithins Cottage boasts five sumptuous double bedrooms, in total, and they are Skye, Rum, Iona, Faroe & Eigg. Each one being named after a famous island off the, rough fiordic, west coast of Scotland. All are large spacious double rooms. However Skye is no ordinary double room! Firstly it is fairly vast and is more of a Bridal Suite than a mere bedroom. It’s ceiling represents a cathedral of oak beams separated by three celestial viewing portals to the stars. So as you lay on the immense super king size bed you can view the stars, watch a movie or listen to wonderful music as this room also incorporates a Dolby Surround Sound and a 40” flat screen LCD TV strategically placed amongst the myriad of oak beams. Due to Skye's sumptuous grandeur it can easily accommodate families and therefore be used as a family room. It has a single bed already in its "annex" but can accommodate more. Throughout the cottage additional bedding is charged at £15.00 per person per night. Whilst, consistent with an ancient property, there are no en-suites the bathing facilities are sumptuous. Donned in your Black Watch tartan robe (definitely not included in the price!) you can feel like a Scottish Laird or Lady and enjoy a power shower in either the Blue Bathroom or the Blue Cloakroom. Alternatively perhaps you would prefer to wallow in the virtual swimming pool roll top bath in the Main Bathroom. Office: A fully operational office is available. Comprising a dedicated PC with fixed line network connection, cam & microphone for your choice of communication (whether it be MSN, Yahoo Messenger or Skype - all are loaded and configured) along with two printers and a laminator as well. From a surfing point of view you can utilise Microsoft explorer, Mozilla Firefox or even Google Chrome - they are all there so the choice is yours. Google Earth is also ready for you to explore any location. Business: A Wi-Fi network is available throughout the property so you can wirelessly connect from your bedroom to any of the communal rooms where flat TV Screens abound. Alternatively fixed line RJ45 network connections are available in Skye, Rum, Iona and even a separate study where there is sufficient surfaces area for you to layout mountains of paperwork. (All these business facilities are fully inclusive in the price & the wireless network key is available on arrival). Entertainment: Bedrooms Skye, Rum, Iona, Faroe & Eigg and the communal rooms Lounge, Snug & Study all have both terrestrial and freesat TV services. Additionally a state of the art media system is available in bedrooms Skye, Rum & Iona and the communal rooms Lounge & Snug. Finally both the bedroom Skye and the communal Lounge enjoy a fabulous surround sound system. (All these entertainment facilities are fully inclusive in the price). There is even a well stocked book shelf to boot! |
